With my interpretation, this quote is basically saying that the king as all the power compared to the condemned man. This condemned man could be another word for slave. In social reality, these people are on two completely different spectrums. But in reality, these people are exactly the same except their social status. The king is just like the condemned man, except for the fact that he has all the privilages that the condemned man does not have. I think that this quote is showing that everyone is born equal physically and biologically, but your social status is something you are born with and keep for nearly the rest of your life.
Some people born poor may become rich one day, yet that does not mean that it happens to everyone. Its not a slaves fault that he/she was born a slave, and there is nothing they can do about it. Just like a king, they don't ask to be born royality, it is pretty much handed to them. Yeah, this is basically what I thought about this quote. Its crazy that the family/status that you were born with determined the rest of your life even though you have no control over who/when you were born. It was sad really.
